U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman wants to make sure that money the feds gave the state to help get us out this horrible economic mess is used the right way and he came here to spread the message.
One of his concerns is that money that’s supposed to go toward making Connecticut children smarter won’t be used the right way. The cash, he said, is to improve education, not just prevent teacher layoffs.
Lieberman made the comments Tuesday after a two-hour hearing in Hartford he hosted as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
Lieberman's committee is monitoring spending of the stimulus money.
The state will receive $2.9 billion in stimulus money and it will preserve and create thousands of jobs and provide a safety net to those suffering the most right now, he said.
