Victim of New Haven Home Invasion Appears to Have Been Targeted: Police

New Haven police are investigating a violent home invasion last week and said they believe the victim, who is under investigation in a drug case, was targeted.

Police said they responded to an apartment on Warren Place at 3 p.m. on Aug. 10 and the 38-year-old resident said three men forced their way into his home, demanded money and “weed” while a 10-year-old girl was in the home.

One intruder had a gun, he told police.

The victim said he gave the intruders $15 worth of marijuana and grabbed a baseball bat to defend himself when a struggle started.

That’s when the intruders hit the victim in the back of his head, causing him to bleed, and stole his cell phone before running off, police said.

Police said they know of the home where the home invasion happened and the victim has a pending drug sale case.

When officers searched the house, they said they found enough drugs to substantiate a trafficking case.

Police believe the victim was targeted and said he did not provide decent descriptions of his attackers.
