Boyfriend of Shooting Victim Seeks Justice

Steven Roderick says his girlfriend was at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

The person killed in a shooting on Sunday in Norwich has been identified as Donna Richardson, 45, of New London.

As Norwich police search for the gunman involved in the fatal shooting, the victim’s boyfriend is asking for the public’s help to bring the killer to justice.

“She didn’t deserve to get what she got,” Steven Roderick said.

Roderick is reeling from his loss.

His girlfriend of 10 years was fatally shot at the Mai Thai Restaurant in Norwich over the weekend and Roderick is left asking why.

“Her life got taken for no reason at all. All she liked to do was go out and have a good time, that’s all she ever wanted to do,” Roderick said.

Roderick described Richardson as a happy, generous, positive person, who loved and celebrated life. He said that’s what his girlfriend was doing; she was at a graduation party when her life was taken.

Richardson was one of two people shot at the restaurant; the other victim survived.

“It could have been either one of us … having a good time … having a drink. Now, my girl’s dead,” Roderick said.

According to the Norwich Police Department the investigation indicates that Richardson was not the intended target.

“She was at the wrong place, at the wrong time,” Roderick said.

Roderick wants justice and he’s appealing to the public, asking for their help finding the killer.

“If anybody has any information, any type of anything, please call the police,” Roderick said.

No arrests have been made in the case.
