Vinal Tech Lockdown in Middletown Ends After Threat

State Police arrested a Guilford teen they believe authored the threatening message that led to a brief lockdown at a Middletown technical school Tuesday afternoon.

Police charged Mark Andrade, 18, with first-degree threatening and breach of peace after identifying him as the author of the note at Vinal Technical High School.

After school officials found the threatening note in the school around 12:48 p.m., the administration called State Police and put the school in lockdown for about an hour as they waited for troopers to arrive.

State Police arrested Andrade and are holding him at Troop F barracks in Westbrook on a $10,000 bond until he appears in Middletown Superior Court on Wednesday.

Students were dismissed at the usual time and no one was injured, State Police said.

Police have no released information at this time of the charges.
