Fake Reality, Real Life Answers

Connecticut researchers want to know what makes us tick, so they are turning to virtual reality to find the answers.

Yale psychiatrist Robert Astur is using virtual reality to observe people’s thoughts and actions under controlled circumstances, according to the Hartford Courant. He started using the technology for his research about 12 years ago and has achieved some success.

As “VR” has progressed, more and more researchers have been utilizing it in a number of areas, the Courant reports.

In Connecticut, it’s been used to help treat war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Other uses include observing the driving habits of seniors.
