Warm Weather Welcomed at Portland Fair

Hundreds took advantage of summer-like temperatures as they descended on the Portland Agricultural Fair this weekend.

From the Ferris wheel to the spinner, there are more than a dozen rides to choose from. But that’s not the only attraction.

“That’s the truck pull. It is the off-street people they have trucks and they’ll come off the street, hook up to a sled with weights and they’ll pull it down the track. They keep adding weight and whoever can go the farthest wins,” explained Don Bascom, President of the Portland Fair Association.

If that’s not for you, the animal obstacle course allows fairgoers to interact with sheep and cattle.

There are more than 60 vendors and this year’s event.

And of course, you can’t go wrong with your typical fair food! You’ll find anything from Philly cheese steaks to fried dough.

Ask Pat Greene, and he’ll tell you he’s not only loving this year’s fair, but the weather as well.

“Last year we froze I think with jackets and it was cool you know, now we’re obviously sweating. Hey what are you going to do, ya know it’s New England. Welcome,” Oakville resident Pat Green said.
