Animal Instincts: Free Voyeur Webcam Shows

Who doesn’t love to watch penguins? The little black and white birds can bring a smile to just about anyone.

The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk is giving you a chance to check out their ten African penguins any time you want -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week -- via webcam.

The penguin cam will let viewers watch the penguins as they swim, preen, eat and explore their rocky habitat. “It’s a lot of fun to pop online and see what the penguins are doing from time-to-time,” said Chris Loynd, marketing director of The Maritime Aquarium. “Just like when you’re watching the penguins here at the Aquarium, seeing them online is certain to just put a smile on your face.”

If penguins aren’t your bird of choice to watch, how about ospreys?

The Maritime Aquarium has also set up a camera on an osprey’s nest is located on the property of NRG’s Manresa Island power plant in South Norwalk. The nest has three eggs, which are expected to hatch soon.

Ospreys arrive in the Long Island shoreline between mid-March and early April. They lay their eggs mid-April to early May. The young are usually full grown and flying by August.

Both web cameras are also accessible from the Aquarium's website.
