Water Main Break Closes Dyer Avenue in Canton for Hours

Dozens of residents in Canton woke up without water Saturday morning after a water main break on Dyer Avenue.

An ambulance company spotted water leaking out onto the street near a fire hydrant around 4 a.m. Saturday. The water had begun to undermine the road by the time crews arrived.

Connecticut Water was called in to repair the break. Dyer Avenue was closed near Gildersleeve Avenue while crews worked. As of 5 p.m. Saturday, the water company and the Canton fire department were still on scene trying to repair the break.

It is unclear exactly how many customers are affected.
