The Milford fire department is searching for a 21-year-old kayaker who was reported missing from the waters off Silver Sands State Park near Charles Island on Sunday morning.
Someone who was out for a walk saw two kayakers on Sunday morning, but could not see them five minutes later, so he called the fire department.
One kayaker was found Sunday afternoon. His is 21 years old, according to police. He was treated for hypothermia and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment, police said.
Police said the men were not wearing life jackets.
The Milford police and fire departments, as well as the Coast Guard and Fairfield police have been involved in the search efforts.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is leading the investigation.
