A 3-year-old’s rush to see his father quickly became a terrible tragedy for a Waterbury family on Thursday.
Michael Stevenson was walking on the sidewalk along Willow Street with his mother around 5 p.m. on Thursday when he saw his dad coming out of the Plaza Food Market, apparently with candy, the Waterbury Republican-American reports
He ran between two parked vehicles and was struck by an SUV. The driver apparently did not see him because of , police said.
Stevenson was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to a preliminary police, the driver was not at fault for the accident, police told the newspaper.
"It's just an unfortunate accident," Lt. Christopher Corbett, a spokesman for Waterbury Police Department, told the Republican-American.
