The Friendship School in Waterford has been evacuated as a precaution because of high carbon monoxide levels in the school, school officials said.

The fire department is at the scene, the school is being ventilated and officials are searching for the cause.

The students, who are 3 to 5 years old, have been moved to the high school, which is located on the same property, school officials said.

They are expected to be there until about noon, at which time they will be allowed back into the school.
