West Hartford Investigates 4 Church Break-Ins

Nursery school was closed for day.

West Hartford police are investigating four church burglaries, three of which happened in a 24-hour span.

Burglars have struck at two Baptist churches, a Presbyterian church and a Congregational church.

Police said they seem to be targeting religious complexes that have auxiliary functions as well as worship areas.

The churches are at 155 Mountain Road, 2080 Boulevard, 12 South Main Street and 90 North Main Street.

The nursery school at First Church in West Hartford was closed this morning because the church church was broken into.

Police said someone broke into the building sometime on Monday. Money was taken and church officials are not sure if the burglars stole keys.

Police are trying to determine if the burglaries are connected and they urge pastors and staff of all houses of worship to secure the premises when the buildings are empty and to use alarm systems to help prevent loss.

Notify police if a burglary is attempted.
