West Hartford Resident Brought to Hospital After Fire

A West Hartford resident was taken to the hospital to be treated for possible smoke inhalation after a fire early Friday morning.

Officials said a woman drove to CVS around 3 a.m. to report her house on Elmhurst Circle was on fire.

Firefighters encountered smoke and knocked the fire down quickly, but there is heavy smoke damage and the house will be uninhabitable for the time being.

A dog that was inside the house was removed and is OK.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
