On Monday night, dozens of Windsor residents fought to stop a massive development from springing up just feet away from their homes.
Dollar Tree wants to build a 34-acre warehouse on empty land near Stone Road and International Drive, right in the middle of a residential area.
“It's one and a half times Yankee Stadium, and six aircraft carriers side by side,” Jane Fisher said.
She said her concerns about this development have been mounting by the day.
“I’m very upset. I haven't been able to eat, sleep,” Fisher said.
Neighbors fear property values could plummet and no one would want to move here.
“Now what are we going to do if we leave? We won’t be able to sell our house if they leave it's going to be abandoned,” Fisher said.

She is also worried about safety and noise because a warehouse will bring a lot more traffic along the two lane road where the warehouse is supposed to be built.
“They're talking 200 trucks all the time. How about when they're idling?” Fisher said.
On Monday, concerned neighbors showed up to Windsor Town Hall, and told leaders it would be a huge mistake if they approved this project.
“From the basis of my job of bringing businesses in, it's a good project,” Jim Burke, Windsor’s economic development director, said.
He listened to residents’ fears, but said Dollar Tree Warehouse could greatly help this area and bring in millions to the local economy every year.
“It provides jobs. It provides a tax base,” Burke said.
He said it would also create hundreds of jobs that Windsor doesn’t typically offer.
“This is an opportunity to provide jobs for lower skills or people who are entering the workforce,” Burke said.
Town council members will have the final say on whether this project would become an actuality and they could vote on it in the next week.
