Windsor Community Helps Fire Victims

Lisandra Marshall and her daughter, barely escaped the blaze Tuesday.

A mother rescued along with her daughter Tuesday morning from a Windsor house fire said the outpouring of support in the days since has been overwhelming.

Lisandra Marshall and her 8-year old daughter, Dacian Levy, have been given clothes and other donations from total strangers.

The school community at Oliver Ellsworth Elementary, where Dacian is a third-grader, has come to the aid of the mother and daughter.

“People just kept coming to me saying is she okay? What can we do? What do you need?," said Jennifer Delskey, Dacian's teacher.

A school social worker sent out an email Wednesday and by the end of the day Dacian had three bags of clothing and other items to take home.

At school Thursday, Dacian wore a bright shirt and pants given to her after the fire.

“It makes me happy," Dacian said.

Delskey said Dacian loves to read so she is still hoping to get her more books.

Anyone who would like to make a book donation – or a monetary donation – should contact Ellsworth Elementary in Windsor.
