Woman Accused of Killing Puppy

Authorities have arrested a Bridgeport woman accused of beating her puppy, a poodle mix, and burying its body in the back yard of her Pacific Street home.

Members of the U.S. Marshal Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force arrested Rommy Rodriguez, 24, on Thursday morning, according to police.

In late October, a neighbor contacted police and reported that Rodriquez had killed her dog.

The witness reported hearing Rodriguez yell, followed by the dog barking, crying and whining.

The neighbor heard Rodriguez hit the dog and the dog’s whining becoming quieter and quieter until it stopped, police said.

Later, the neighbor saw Rodriguez in the backyard with a man. They had a plastic bag and an area had been freshly dug, police said.

A necropsy revealed that the dog died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to police.
