A 21-year-old Madison woman was charged with driving under the  influence in West Hartford after she crashed into the front of Radio Shack and Harry’s Pizza in West Hartford Center early Sunday morning, police said.

Police responded to a car crash on South Main Street and Boulevard at 3:08 a.m. and found a white Volvo in the front yard of 80 South Main Street.

It had struck a small tree and a sign before coming to a stop.

As police were responding to the crash, an alarm at Radio Shack went off because glass had broken.

Police soon determined that the Volvo had struck the front of radio Shack and Harry’s Pizza, crashing into the building, and continued south on South Main Street before coming to a stop.

Police have identified the driver as Samantha Taschner, 21, of Madison. She was charged with two counts of failure to drive right and operation while under the influence and released on a $500 non-surety bond.
