Woman Gets Deep Discount on New Refrigerator After Problem With Old One

Linda Leary, of Trumbull, bought a refrigerator a little over two years ago but recently noticed a large crack in the freezer lining.

She had purchased a protection plan with the product.

Leary said she filed a claim and was denied because the crack was considered a cosmetic issue.

She appealed the decision and contacted the manufacturer directly.

Leary claims the manufacturer pointed her back to the warranty company.

She refused to give up and reached out to NBC Connecticut Responds.

Our involvement with Leary’s problem, resulted in the manufacturer offering to pay 90-percent of the cost of a new refrigerator.

Leary ended up paying $400 for a $4,000 appliance and said she was thrilled with the outcome.
