Police ID Woman Shot and Killed in Hartford

A 44-year-old woman was killed in a shooting on Enfield Street in Hartford Wednesday, according to police.

Police said they received a ShotSpotter notification of five shots fired in the area of 103 Enfield St. around 9:12 p.m. Moments later, they received a 911 call reporting a woman down in the street with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim, Lydia Tirillo, was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m. Police said it appears she was not shot in the head, but she did have gunshot wounds in her torso and legs.

They said this appeared to be a targeted shooting.

"Shot multiple times. Generally, something like that is a targeted situation," Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley said. 

Major crimes is investigating.
