In the past few years, the number of companies that allow their employees to use sites like Twitter and Facebook has grown by about 20 percent, but checking in on social media is off limits at plenty of other offices.
That's where Yale student Bay Gross comes in.
The 20-year-old computer science major has created a new website that lets people hide their Facebook while on the job.
The concept of hardlywork.in is similar to those programs that help people follow the NCAA men's basketball tournament at the office.
If you see your boss coming, you just click a button and your facebook page turns into a spreadsheet. That way, it looks like you're hard at work, rather than catching up on your friends' status updates. The spreadsheet view even lets you keep Facebooking, while fooling your boss.
We should mention that NBCConnecticut.com does not condone slacking off when you should be hard at work. So, don't blame us if your boss catches you in the act.
Gross said he launched the site last month because his friends with corporate jobs couldn't check their facebook pages at work. He says he's already gotten 150,000 hits.
