Meriden Man Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-91 North in New Haven

The highway has reopened.

A 20-year-old Meriden man is dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 91 North in New Haven on Tuesday morning.

State Police said Libni A. Nunez Jr., 20, of Meriden, was driving the wrong way on I-91 North just after 4:30 a.m. when his Chevy Colbalt hit a tractor-trailer head-on. 

Nunez was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured. 

The highway was closed between exits 2 and 3, but officials have cleared the scene and the highway has reopened.

State police are investigating and ask witnesses to call Trooper Spina at Troop G at 203-696-2500.
