Wrong-Way Driver Sentenced in Deadly Crash

Whitelaw and other crash survivors were disappointed the judge did not give Musser the eight years in jail they had asked for.

Five more years in jail await the former Navy seaman who killed a Connecticut College student in a wrong way car crash.

Daniel Musser was sentenced today by Judge Robert Young after a plea bargain last month. He pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter.

Musser drove the wrong way on I-395 after a night of drinking at Mohegan Sun in March of 2009. He slammed into a car full of Connecticut College students, killing Elizabeth Durante. The group was on their way to Africa to work as medics during spring break.

"She was very against drinking. She lived in a dorm that was substance-free," Laura Whitelaw, a survivor of the crash said.
