Another Arrest in Connection With Stratford Murder

Police said an argument preceded the shooting.

Stratford police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old Stratford man last month.

Police have charged Wilfredo Martinez, 23, and Jose Rivera, 24, both of Bridgeport in connection with the death of Noel Gonzalez, 20.

Police found Gonzalez's body on the front porch of 2063 Barnum Ave. on July 30. He had been shot and police said the shooting was the result of an argument between Gonzalez and another male.

Rivera was arrested on Sunday and charged with murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, risk of injury to minor, unlawful discharge of firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, reckless endangerment and weapon in a motor vehicle.

Martinez surrendered to Stratford Police on Monday after learning that an arrest warrant had been issued for him, police said. He was charged with murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, unlawful discharge of firearm, reckless endangerment and weapon in a motor vehicle, processed at the Stratford Police Headquarters and held on a $1 million bond.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Stratford Police Department at 203-385-4120, or the Stratford Crime Tip Hotline at 203-375-TIPS (8477).
