Flames broke out at a Shelton bedding factory Monday morning for the second time in four days.
Firefighters called in mutual aid to help fight the fire at Latex International Foam, located on River Road in Shelton.
According to the Shelton Fire Marshal, mattresses and debris leftover from the last fire self-combusted this morning due to operations taking place at the factory.
Latex International issued a press release Tuesday saying the "small fire flared from remnants of the product that burned last week, which was not fully removed from the same dryer" and was quickly stamped out.
"The dryer now poses no additional threat," according to the release.
Firefighters doused the fire and contained it, fire officials said. No one was injured.
Four firefighters were hurt while battling the first fire that broke out early Thursday morning. Company officials told the fire marshal that $3.5 million worth of stock was damaged by smoke, andnot including damage to equipment or water damage sustained.
The company produces latex bedding and mattresses.
While the Shelton factory works to rebuild, Latex International is increasing production at its Texas location to compensate, according to the company's press release.
Latex International moved to the 208,000-square-foot building in Shelton after a major fire destroyed its Ansonia factory in 2001, according to the Associated Press. The manufacturer also survived an arson fire in 1975.
The parent company, Latex Foam International Holdings, filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month.
