Art Business Closes Shop, Moves Online

The tough times force a Cheshire framing business to move online

The tough economy is forcing Ann Hearn, owner of the Picture Framer in Cheshire, to rethink how she is doing business.

The Picture Framer has been in business since 1978. Hearn bought it in 2003.

The cost of operating the storefront Elm Street business isn't worth it any more, so she's moving her business online, the New Haven Register reports

With the lease up at the end of the month, and costs rising, Hearn said moving to a Web-only business will help her provide better customer service.

“If I can reduce my overhead and offer my customers a better price, while at the same time making a little more money for myself, then it will have been worth it," Hearn told the New Haven Register.

Her new Web site, www.rumblegraphics.com is still under construction.

Along with framing,  Hearn's business will offer photo restoration, logo and advertising designs, and youth-oriented posters, art and T-shirts.
