Bat Tests Positive For Rabies in Meriden

Meriden health officials are warning residents after a rabid bat was captured in the city.

The bat was caught on Woodland Ridge and tested positive for rabies on Wednesday, according to the Meriden Department of Health & Human Services.

A person who was exposed to the bat is now receiving preventative treatment.

Health officials are urging residents to make sure their pets are up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations and to keep pets indoors at night.
