A bear was spotted on a playground in Simsbury briefly Monday morning, then left the area, according to police.
It happened at Central School and the principal said a parent notified the school about a bear near a playscape around 8 a.m., so a secretary called police, who responded immediately.

No one was injured. There have been 429 black bear sightings in Connecticut over the last year.
The principal and staff planned to monitor the school grounds and speak with animal control about any safety steps to take.
