Boat That Sank in Connecticut River to Be Raised Today

A sailboat that sank in the Connecticut River last month will be raised today.

U.S. Coast Guard and state officials said they have been checking the sunken 53-foot yacht since it went down in Lyme’s Hamburg Cove, according to the Hartford Courant.

The boat was surrounded by ice before it sank.

The boat sank with about 50 gallons of fuel onboard.

A salvage crew will be brought in because of concerns about the potential for fuel to leak from the vessel. The Courant reports there has been no evidence that the yacht’s diesel fuel tank has leaked.
