Body Found in Thames River Was Missing Kayaker

The body of a kayaker who had been missing since February was pulled from the Thames River on Tuesday afternoon, according to state police.

Sailors at the Naval Submarine Base New London spotted the body in the river just off the base in Groton Tuesday and state police said the body has been identified as Lyle Dagenais, 31, of Montville, according to state police.

He disappeared on Feb. 19 after leaving home to go fishing in his kayak and his family reported him missing later that night.

Dagenais' vehicle was found at a boat launch in Montville, but the kayak and fishing equipment were missing.

His kayak was recovered in the river the next day.

Dagenais' body was found around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
