Branch Breaks Window of Bus Carrying Elementary School Students

A branch broke the window of a school bus carrying elementary school students in Monroe on Friday morning.

The passenger side rear view mirror of a bus carrying 25 Fawn Hollow Elementary School students caught a low-lying tree limb on Mill Brook Terrace around 8:45 a.m., police said.

The tree snapped back and broke a window, sending safety glass into the bus, where students were sitting, police said.

Two students received minor scratches from the glass, police said. Monroe EMS and the Fawn Hollow school nurse evaluated the students, who did not need to go to a hospital, police said.

All the students were transferred to a different bus and taken to school.

School and board of education administrators responded to the scene and notified parents of the students on the bus of the incident.
