Bridgeport Detectives Investigate Two Shootings

Detectives from the Bridgeport Police Department are investigating two shootings in the city late on Tuesday night.

The first shooting was reported at 11:23 p.m. and police responded to 629 Washington Ave. in the Charles F. Greene Homes apartment complex, where they found the victim inside a fourth-floor apartment in Building 5. They also saw a blood trail and determined that the shooting happened in the lobby and that the victim fled to the upstairs apartment, police said.

The victim, Raiheen Johnson, 32, of Bridgeport, told police that a masked man shot him during an attempted robbery, but he refused to give any additional information and became verbally abusive, police said. Detectives then returned to get security footage and see what happened.

The second shooting happened at 11:37 p.m. in the 300 block of Wells Street and police said the victim arrived at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center at 11:41 p.m. in a private car.

Joshua Robles, 19, of Bridgeport, said he was sitting inside a car on Wells Street when two people approached and shots were fired into the vehicle, striking Robles in the chest and thigh. The injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

This shooting does not appear to be a random act, police said.
