Bridgeport Police Charge Teen With Murder in Daylight Shooting

Roderick Rodgers, 18, is facing murder and attempted murder charges

Police arrested an 18-year-old Monday in connection with a shooting that left one person dead and four others injured in Bridgeport last week.

Roderick Rodgers was arrested around noon, according to police.

Rodgers is accused of shooting Christopher Pettway and killing him last Tuesday afternoon along Reservoir Avenue. Four other people were injured in the shooting. The other victims, who range in age from 15 to 19, are expected to recover.

Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Rodgers on Friday, and had been searching for him ever since, police said. Officers returned to Rodgers' house on Monday and spoke with the suspect's mother. As they were talking with her, they heard commotion and found Rodgers inside, according to police.

Rodgers is charged with murder and four counts of attempted murder. He is being held on $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
