Bridgeport Woman Accused of Selling Prescription Drugs Found With Weapons: Police

A Bridgeport woman has been arrested on drug and gun charges after an investigation into allegations she was selling prescription drugs.

Police said they searched 28 Bell St. around 5 a.m. on Wednesday as part of an investigation into Miriam Almourtada-Cotto, 49, and found hundreds of prescription pills and several handguns and rifles.

Almourtada-Cotto was charged with sale of narcotics and sale of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, and failure to keep prescriptions in their proper containers. She was also charged with sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school because of the proximity to of Harding High School.

Bond was set at $100,000 and Almourtada-Cotto was released after posting it. She is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 27.

Police continue to investigate the firearms.
