Bristol Eastern High School Students Sent Home After Threat

Bristol Eastern High School in Bristol was evacuated on Thursday because of a threat and students were sent home early, according to the superintendent’s office.

The school's resource officer learned of the threat at 8:27 a.m. after a female student received a bomb threat by text from a number she did not recognize and reported it, according to police.

The school administration decided to send students home for the day as an investigation was conducted.

Buses were sent to pick up the students at the nearby Stafford School and roads were closed to ensure that the pick-up process was safe, police said.

The bomb squad responded and found nothing dangerous. Staff members were allowed to go back into the school building as of 10:30 a.m.

The school evacuation comes two days after students at Bristol Central High School were dismissed because of a threat there. Nothing was found when police  searched that school.

Police are trying to trace where the threat came from and believe it is unrelated to the threat earlier this week at Bristol Central.

The Bristol Police Department’s school resource officer and detectives are investigating.
