Bristol Intersection Reopens After Being Closed for Hours After Truck Crash

The crash brought down power lines and snapped a utility pole.

A FedEx driver was trapped in a truck covered in power lines on Friday morning in Bristol after hitting a utility pole and part of South Street would be closed for around eight hours as crews repair damage.

South Street has since reopened.

Police are warned  residents that there might be power outages.

The driver hit a low power line just before 11 a.m. on Friday after turning on South Street, police said.

The pole snapped and the truck was entangled in wires.

Because the lines were charged, the driver was not able to get out of the truck until Eversource arrived and turned the power off.

The FedEx driver was not injured, but a woman who heading west on South Street said she was shocked as she passed the truck.

EMS transported her to Bristol Hospital to be evaluated.
