Brush Fire Breaks Out at Sleeping Giant State Park

Fire officials worked for hours to stamp out a brush fire at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden.

The fire broke out near the Giant's Head section and blue trail on Saturday afternoon, according to the state Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Mutual aid from Wallingford, Bethany, North Haven, and Cheshire responded.

Hamden fire officials said DEEP park staff are still on scene monitoring hot spots. 

The bulk of the fire was knocked down by 6:00 p.m.
