Burglar Stole Lottery Tickets from West Haven Gas Station: Police

West Haven police have arrested a man who is accused of breaking into a gas station this morning and stealing lottery tickets.

Police responded to Green Fuel, at 540 Boston Post Road, at 3:20 a.m. and found the front door was smashed.

Soon after, University of New Haven Police saw Nathaniel Henry, 20 of New Haven, dressed all in black walking in the area of Tile and Isadore streets and detained him.

Henry, who police said has a criminal history, was in possession of a fake gun, according to police.

The business’ surveillance system showed the man try to get into the store with the handgun drawn, thinking it was open, police said.

But when he realized it was closed, he smashed the window and took scratch-off lottery tickets.

Police said Henry’s clothing was littered with shards of glass and he had the gun, scratch off lottery tickets and a mask.

He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, larceny and criminal possession of a handgun and held on $100,000 bond.
