Police ID Man Killed in Crash in New Haven

A 24-year-old New Haven man is dead and a 22-year-old West Haven man has life-threatening injuries after the stolen vehicle they were in crashed near the intersection of Foxon Hill Road and Quinnipiac Avenue in New Haven.

State Police said the driver fled from Hamden Police shortly before the 2010 Ford Taurus hit a tree just before 1 a.m. Friday.

The driver and the passenger were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and the passenger, 24-year-old Jarelle Gibbs, of New Haven, was pronounced dead. The driver remains hospitalized.

Police said the Ford Taurus has been reported stolen from Trumbull on Aug. 12.
