Man Cuts Ear on Car Window Glass Shattered by Bullet: New Haven Police

A New Haven man is in the hospital after a gunshot shattered the window of the car he was in and he cut his ear on the glass.

New Haven police responded to Howard Avenue and Spring Street at 9:45 p.m. to investigate reports of gunfire.

While initial reports said that a gunshot victim fled the scene several blocks west on Howard Avenue, police said that Omar Vazquez-Vazquez, 27, of New Haven, was not shot. His ear was bleeding due to a cut from the window.

He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be treated for the non-life threatening injury.

Police said that there is no suspect, suspect description or identification of a possible vehicle involved.

Major Crime Division and Bureau of Investigation detectives were still at the scene as of 10:38 p.m. interviewing possible witnesses and gathering evidence.
