Carjacker Battled Crack Addiction: Friends

The man who carjacked two cars Tuesday, led police on a chase and died when he crashed had battled a longtime addiction to crack, his friends said.

Samuel Marino, 26, was a talented carpenter, but struggled with drugs for several years, they told The Advocate of Stamford. He most recently live in Westport and had been at treatment centers in Stamford and Putnam for his drug use, the Advocate reports.

Marino was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital.
