Catering Contractor Stole Rolex from Home: Police

A man hired to help cater a party at a Westport home stole a $30,000 Rolex from the family throwing the party, according to police.

A resident of Maple Avenue North called police on July 23 to report that someone has stolen her Rolex watch from a second floor bedroom.

The family had hired a private vendor to cater at the house, according to police, and investigators identified Jonathan Farkas, 35, of Norwalk, as a suspect.

Farkas, an independent contractor for the catering service, confessed to the crime, according to police, and authorities recovered the expensive watch.

Farkas was charged with first-degree larceny. He unable to post $30,000 bond and was issued a court date of Aug. 20.
