Cirque du Soleil Extends OVO's Stay in Hartford

Cirque du Soleil hasn't even set up the big top in Hartford yet, but they're already adding more shows to the schedule.

Because demand for tickets to OVO have been so high, the acrobatic group is extending its stay in Connecticut.

The new show, OVO, which means egg in Portuguese, takes the audience into the world of insects. The world-renowned Cirque du Soleil performers bring the ecosystem of the bugs to life. The characters range from beetles to spiders and even grasshoppers.

Even the show's set is a work of art. Dry ice helps create an indoor waterfall, and the central theme is brought to life by a 22-foot tall egg.

200 workers will begin to set up the big top on Market Street in a little more than a week.

OVO is scheduled to begin June 17, but they've added new shows from July 7 through July 11. Tickets for the added shows go on sale to the general public June 6.
