Justin Bonner admitted to kidnapping a Cumberland Farms employee in Shelton on Tuesday morning and said he was high at the time, according to court papers.
"I cannot believe I did this," Bonner, 24, of Stratford, said in a written statement for police. "I was high on Angel Dust at the time."
Surveillance video shows Bonner enter the store three times, and on the third visit, he "bear-hugged" the clerk and pulled her outside, according to the police.
He allegedly forced the woman into the trunk of his car and beat her in the head with cans of soda.
Police found her a couple miles away from the store after she knocked on a resident’s door and asked for help.
The victim, a 46-year-old woman, does not recall how she escaped, according to the affidavit.
"I am sorry I did this. I will pay for her medical expenses. I'm so sorry," Bonner wrote in a statement.

Doctors at Yale-New Haven Hospital counted three areas in the victim's brain where she was bleeding after the attack.
Bonner has been charged with 1st degree kidnapping and first-degree assault. His bond was set at $500,000.
He was convicted of third-degree assault less than two months ago and served no prison time.
The judge ordered Bonner to be placed on suicide watch because of what the judge called verbal self threats.
