Heavy Rain Arrives for New Year's Eve

NBC Connecticut meteorologists are tracking a storm that will bring heavy rain on New Year’s Eve.

A developing storm along the Gulf Coast moves north on Monday.

Sunshine startd the day Monday but increasing clouds brought in rain by afternoon. The rain will become steadier and heavier through the evening toward midnight.

Most areas will see close to or over one inch of rain by the time it tapers off in the first few hours of 2019.

For New Year’s Day, expect a mild windy start with slow clearing through the morning. Temperatures will start the day in the 50s but drop through the 40s in the afternoon.

A wind advisory is in effect for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. There's also a wind advisory in effect in Litchfield county from a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Another storm looks to impact the northeast by the end of the week with rain or a wintry mix.
