It has been a violent week in New Haven and residents and local leaders will be meeting tonight to work together to solve the problem.
Four people were shot in three shootings since Saturday morning and two of those victims are teenagers.
On Tuesday morning, a 17-year-old Hillhouse High School student was shot in the upper hip during what police said was an attempted robbery.
The high school student was shot two days after a teenage mother of newborn twins was shot during a holdup at Burger King at 1329 Whalley Avenue.
The victim, the19-year-old manager, was shot on Sunday night and she remains at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Residents are sick of the violence.
“I'm fed up with it. We've buried too many young kids," Troy McNulty, of New Haven, said. "I think, if you look over the past year, couple years, we're seeing a lot more of them at 11 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon."
"You can fear just walking down these streets and hope it doesn't happen to you but -- as far as that, what can you do?” Kyrasia Jones, of New Haven, said.
Early Saturday morning, two people were shot when several folks broke out outside Gateway Community College at the corner of Church and Crown Streets.
Timothy Charles, 24, of Hamden, was shot in the hand and Kirt Swan, 21, of New Haven, was shot in his upper back, police said.
The community meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Mauro-Sheridan Science, Technology and Communications School, which is located at 191 Fountain Street.
Police continue to investigate the shootings and ask anyone with information about them to come forward.
