A Connecticut soldier is dead after being shot three times during an argument in Springfield, Mass., Sunday morning.
Julian Cartie, 25, of New Britain, was leaving a bar with his brother and a friend and was heading toward a restaurant when was shot around 2 a.m., police said.
A car with three women and a man pulled up and words were exchanged. The man got out of the car and shot Cartie three times, twice in the chest and once in the shoulder, police said. He man jumped back in the car and they took off.
Cartie was taken to Baystate Medical Center and pronounced dead just before 2:30 a.m.
Cartie was a member of the Connecticut Army National Guard, where he was in a company that provides support to an infantry battalion.
He played football for New Britain High School and went on to attend the University of Buffalo, where he played as a defensive back.
Jack Cochran coached Cartie for two years in New Britain.

He was a "great kid, great athlete,” Cochran said.
He, like everyone else, is struggling to make sense of this, he said.
Cartie’s friends and family have put together a memorial page on Facebook, where people can express how much Julian will be missed.
Police are still searching for the shooter. The man and the three women will be charged with murder, police said.
