Connecticut Expanding Online Business Registration Tool

People forming businesses or registering existing companies from foreign jurisdictions in Connecticut will soon be able to file their forms online.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, whose office handles business filings, is scheduled to demonstrate on Tuesday how the new function will work.

Currently, such paperwork must be mailed, faxed or hand-delivered to the Secretary of the State's customer service center in Hartford.

The new online business formation function has been operating for several weeks for domestic LLCs and corporations. The ability to register foreign LLCs and corporations is still being tested. It should be ready by the end of the month.

More than 30,000 new LLCs and corporations are formed at the Connecticut Secretary of the State's office annually.
