Police Accepting Prescription Drug Drop-Offs Saturday

Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and police departments across the country, including here in Connecticut, are taking part in it.

Connecticut State Police said the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs while educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

On April 28, residents are encouraged to bring in any expired, unwanted or unused prescription drugs to a participating location

Law enforcement agencies and the DEA will continue to hold prescription drug take-back events every few months.

The state Department of Consumer Protection's website includes information on the proper disposal of prescription drugs
