City of Groton Police are mourning the loss of an officer, who took his own life at the police station Monday morning.
The body of Lt. Thomas Forbes was found by another officer around 8:30 a.m.
"Lieutenant Forbes was well-known and respected in this community as an outstanding police officer and a wonderful man," Mayor Marian Galbraith said. "Our hearts go out to his family, as well as to all of his brothers and sisters on the city police force. He will hold a place of respect and honor in our hearts and memories."
State Police were called in to investigate after Forbes' body was discovered. Forbes committed suicide, according to State Police Lt. Paul Vance.
