Cops Pull Man Over for Doing 5 mph Instead of 40 mph

Cops often pull drivers over for speeding, but they stopped a Bloomfield man because he was going far too slowly, cops said. And that’s not all police say he was doing wrong.

Isreal Nieves, 39, of Bloomfield, was doing 5 mph in a 40 mph zone, police said. When they pulled him over, they found the drug PCP in the car and a 9-year-old passenger.

Cops charged Nieves on Saturday with driving under the influence, possession of narcotics, risk of injury to a minor, driving at a dangerously slow speed and driving without a license.

He was being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and was expected to appear in court on Monday. It could not immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.
